Low Flying
Gallery
I
now have my photo gallery up and running. This includes
photographs and videos of military aircraft which I've shot at
some of the low flying areas in Wales and also from Airshows
across the UK. Check out the LowFly/Wales page for more information on where these
photos are
taken and what equipment is necessary for a visit.

I'm
Mark, I'm 35 and I live in the University town
of Aberystwyth in West Wales, United Kingdom.
I have three main passions, Military aircraft, Photography
and Radio Control flying. I decided to create RCFlights
back in June 2005 and it has since grown in popularity
with 2007 receiving more than 2,687,902 hits. |

Living in the
heart of Wales we get a lot of low flying military
aircraft on a daily basis, these can fly as low as 250ft
at over 450 knots, but in certain areas can go as low as
100ft. I spend a lot of my spare time filming and
photographing these aircraft not only around some of the
areas in Wales such as the famous Mach Loop but also at
different Air shows across the UK.
Photographs and videos can be found in the Gallery
section, you can also find more information on low
flying photography in Wales on the LowFly/Wales link.

My current
camera equipment for stills consists of both Nikon D300 and D200 dSLR's
plus a Nikon 300mm f2.8 VR prime lens. I sometimes use a
x1.4tc teleconverter which boosts it up to a 420mm f4
lens which is great for those extra long shots. For
video I use a Canon XH-A1 HD camcorder. The XHA1 shoots
in 1080i or 720p and throws out superb quality. I try to
keep the final web videos to a high quality but this
does increase the file size to over
100mb for most vids. For editing
there's Sony Vegas Pro 8 for the videos and
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for stills. Other equipment
includes a BushHawk 320D shoulder mount, Varizoom Media
Rig Pro and Yupiteru's MVT 7100 scanner, theres more
information on all my equipment in the gallery section.
